The temperature value most recorded in PV systems is the PV module temperature. In fact modules exposed to high temperature produces less power than same module at 25°C. The correct Performance Ratio (P/R) calculation is done by inserting in the proper formula. In Italy, Spain and Greece PV module’s temperature can reach recursively 85°C during hottest months; in those cases the loss of output power are lower of around 25%.
We propose surface temperature probes designed for outdoor uses and quick response (from several seconds to few seconds) to temperature variations in order to get precise Performance Ratio calculations. The probes are RTD type and can be PT100 or PT1000.
